Asheron's Call - Darktide
First of all I'd like to mention that the quality of the Screen Shots I've taken is nowhere near what the game really is like.
I originated from Leafcull (I know o.0) and was soon looking for a more challenging environment. Well, Darktide was almost too much for me. A full on Player Killer server? It was rough, I got killed, I got looted, I was poor and had to do with the most basic equipment possible. At times it was too much and I crawled back to the non PK server Leafcull. Eventually I got used to the "customs" on Darktide and after a full year of playing on Darktide I could finally call myself an EX-Carebear heh.
1 1/2 years later I feel at home on Darktide. I was untagged for a very long time. Finally, I joined a small time PK guild where most of my friends where until the guild merged with GEN. GEN seemed nice at first and I was glad to defend Kara from the constant raiding. Soon however, the problems where getting out of hand, GEN grew too fast and a lot of the trash of Darktide ended up in the guild. When the House of Chaos (HoC) broke off GEN under the leadership of Aerious, me and my friends decided to join HoC. HoC had very strong believes on honor but remained a PK monarchy. I was happy, the people in the guild where great and Aerious was a great leader. I was in shock when Aerious announced that he was disbanding the guild.
Heh, it was pretty chaotic after that, people got very upset and sad about it. To be honest I have to give Aerious credit for it. He was tired from doing nothing but guild politics from the time he logged on up until he logged off. He also head RL issues in the way that allowed him very limited time for AC. He disbanded his guild at it's high point. We had 400+ members. He wanted HoC to be a memory that did justice to it's great members. Aerious would not allow HoC to become anything other then what it was during his time.
Still, it was hard on many of us. Finding a replacement guild proved to be a impossible task. JoV came close, but other then that we where out of options. So we did the best we could. A few ex-HoC members got together and founded "Legacy of Chaos"
Same rules, same standards. Finally a new home for me. Finally I have a tag once more I can be proud of.
After playing Asheron's Call for over 2 years Dark Age of Camelot came out. I needed a break from AC and moved to Morgan le Fey in Hibernia. My new name is Ecthelion but I will always use Shadow Spearman if I have the chance. In the future I will give Shadowbane a try and AC2.
I still like AC, I did not leave it because I hated it. I simply needed a change after that much time, and sadly even a new game like DAoC is not as good as AC.
